The Village of Pelham Police Department issued an alert on Tuesday, July 23, warning that over the past few nights, there has been an increase in larcenies from parked and unlocked vehicles in the area of Fourth Avenue, Second Avenue, Manning Circle, and Nyack Avenue.
Police said that shortly after 2 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23, an eagle-eyed officer on midnight patrol spotted a suspicious suspect entering a vehicle on Corlies Avenue. The suspect was subsequently arrested and was found to be in possession of stolen property from previously reported larcenies throughout the village.
The suspect - whose name has not been released pending his arraignment - remains in police custody.
According to police, if area residents or anyone they may know has been victimized by a similar crime, they are being encouraged to contact investigators at the Pelham Police Department by calling (914) 738-2000 as the investigation continues.
“As a reminder to all residents and visitors of Pelham if you have been a victim of a crime or have any information that may be beneficial to either one of these police investigations please call us immediately,” the department said in a statement. “We are committed to your safety and are here to serve our community.”
